Black Screen Crashes while Gaming: Event Log 1001 BugCheck

Hi there,

I've been getting some rather random crashes, after trying all the usual troubleshooting I thought I had solved it by replacing the GPU but it has just reared its ugly head again tonight. The screen goes black randomly during gaming, no particular title or anything meaning I have to reboot. The event log mentioned this after I rebooted:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000133 (0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000501, 0x0000000000000500, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 022615-4796-01.
As per the instructions in the sticky I've attached the DM Log collector Tool zip file.

Hope you can help.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-

DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (133)
The DPC watchdog detected a prolonged run time at an IRQL of DISPATCH_LEVEL or above.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000000, A single DPC or ISR exceeded its time allotment. The offending
component can usually be identified with a stack trace.
Arg2: 0000000000000501, The DPC time count (in ticks).
Arg3: 0000000000000500, The DPC time allotment (in ticks).
Arg4: 0000000000000000

So, it seems that a driver exceeded the time limit allotted to it. Let's check the stack and see if we could find something.

So, it was the NVIDIA Driver responsible for the crash. Could you please run the Display Driver Uninstaller from this **LINK** and uninstall the currently installed NVIDIA Driver. Once the current driver has uninstalled, kindly install a driver which is few versions behind or try the driver you got in the Driver Disc with the Graphics Card.

Could you please remove any ASUS Bloatware (ASIO.sys) present on the system? It is known to cause problems. Also, update the drivers highlighted in BLACK, BOLD & Underline.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Thanks for the reply Pranav.

I'll do as you suggest although using the version that comes on the driver disc is likely to lead to more problems, considering how out of date it will be. I've noticed there is a new security fix on one of the older driver releases dated 24/02/2015 for version 341.44 so I'm going to try that.

As for ASUS bloatware, none that I'm aware of. I have an Asus Soundcard with the latest driver installed and did have some Asus GPU Overclocking software installed, but that was removed during trouble shooting. Is there a way to source what programs is using ASIO.sys?

The LGVirHid.sys and LGBusEnum.sys files seem to relate to Logitech Windows drivers and as far as I'm aware I'm not using them. I do have a Logitech mouse but the software I'm running (Logitech Gaming Software) is the latest version (8.56.145 x64). I've located the files in C:\Windows\System32\drivers, do I just find more up to date versions and replace the files?

Hi Speed3y ^_^,

The driver which comes with the Graphics Card works like (99% even if it is outdated).

Regarding the ASUS Bloatware, see if you have the ASUS Probe Utility. If yes, then uninstall that. If not, then try finding this driver in the system by doing a system wide manual search and renaming the driver to "asiobak.sys". This way, we would have a backup.

Find the software associated with the Logitech Mouse. Do not replace driver files like these else you might face serious problems.

Let me know how it goes ^_^

Upon a bit of research it seems that the Asus sound card drivers/software also use the AsIO32.sys and AsIO64.sys files, so I'm going to leave them. I'm sure they do come with bloatware as well, but the only Asus software I have installed at the moment is the interface and drivers for my Asus STX sound card, I previously had GPU Tweak but that was removed.

As for the Logitech mouse, it is using the latest software version. Anyways, no crashes yet, so fingers crossed its solved.

Thanks!

That sounds interesting. Could you please post back the source from where you concluded that? The driver I said is part of bloatware is the "AsIO.sys" and not "ASIO32.sys" or "ASIO64.sys". :)

Yup. Fingers crossed. Let me know how everything goes ^_^

Indeed you did, but I don't have AsIO.sys on my system, just the 32 and 64bit versions as mentioned. Located here: C:\Program Files\ASUS\AMDA\Io and C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\asmbsw.inf_amd64_5f6fc21717202d29\Io

As for the source, it was just some forum, I cannot confirm it as it would require a fresh install.

Hmm. Leave them then because they are not "AsIO.sys" :)

Let me know in case you are still facing issues. In case the issue is resolved, kindly mark this thread as SOLVED.

Unfortunately I've had another crash, screen went black during gaming and it seems the display driver stopped working as was recovered. Lots of event log errors so here are the screenshots:

I'm going to go back further with the drivers, trying 332.21 one of the earliest that supports this card, using Driver Uninstaller from safe mode before installing etc. I'll let you know how I get on.

Sure thing. Let me know how it goes ^_^.

In case you are still facing problems, please upload a freshly generated Diagnostic ZIP File with your next post so that it could be analysed :)
