I apologise for the typo in the title, BSOD not bdos :/

I currently run windows 8.1. The computer is an Asus S400C. On startup it says preparing automatic repair then after a few seconds takes me to the BSOD where It says:
Recovery
Your pc couldn't start properly
after multiple tries, the operating system on your PC failed to start, so it needs to be repaired.

Error code: 0xc0000001

It then says to use the OS disk etc. Although, we dont have the OS disk since it came pre-installed onto the laptop. After 20 seconds or so, it Automatically turns off.

I haven't tried many options in the f8 section, although i have tried to reboot it into safemode and it returns to the same screen.

Since it turns off after a short amount of time, I am avoiding turning it back on too many times to get the full text.

If anyone needs more data, please guide me through the steps. I don't know a lot about computers but i still know quite a bit.

It happened after word got an error message and refused to start up. She then uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it. When she tried to log back on she typed in the password wrong (or something like that, she doesn't know what happened) and it then went to the BSOD

Thanks in advance for any help :)

P.S I can send someone a picture of the error screen. I have tried shift-f8 on startup, but it has given me nothing.

You will need to acquire recovery media for this computer in order to attempt to repair it.

You can try these bootable diagnostics: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
If the system doesn't have a CD/DVD drive, you'll either have to get a USB one, or figure out how to run these diagnostics from a USB thumb drive.
