How to install AVG 2012 IS on Windows 8:
1. Join the AVG Beta Program.
2. Join the AVG 2012 Small Update 2 Beta
3.Download the installation file
4.Install it
5. Enjoy! :)

Have just spoken with AVG Development Team here.
Their response

AVG 2012 is not officially supported on the current Win 8 being tested & will not be supported until Win 8's release to the public.

From what I have heard from a limited few testing > no!

Im on AVG beta list and though it may work on some systems there are enough problems for them not to want to support it. They "may" support it by RTM
