I have a Lenovo G510, and many times (most of the times) when I plug earphones or speakers to the 3.5mm jack, the audio stops, and a red X appears on the Speakers icon in the notification area, and I have to press Solve problem and then it detects that the speakers stopped working (I will try to get the accurate error next time), and only then the audio returns.
( It's a combo jack - speakers and mic - why do they do it, I have no idea )
Thanks.
should I download and install it? Or there's a way to check if it's already the one that I'm using so that I won't have to install it?
*Edit : I went to Device Manager and clicked on Audio inputs and outputs and pressed on Update driver software and it says that Windows determined that I have the latest drivers (however it doesn't say if they are the correct ones )
To access the Device Manager, go to the Desktop, then Hold the Windows Key down and press the Pause/Break key. When the Panel comes up, Device Manger will be in the list in the upper Left of the Panel.
For an example, here is what my Device Manager shows. Its from Win 7, but Win 8 is the same.
Oh I did look at device manager, but I looked at the wrong title "Audio inputs and outputs".
Under "Sound, video and game controllers" I get:
-Bluetooth Audio Device
-Conexant SmartAudio HD
Update: I installed the new drivers from the Lenovo website and it looked like the same version but I proceed with installation anyway, I hope it will help. if the problem appears again I will tell you
*Another update: after I clicked "update driver" on "Conexant SmartAudio HD" under "Sound, video and game controllers" it actually did install something so I hope it worked
