Solved asks for credentials, then says permission denied
Hello all,
i have a very frustrating problem. Every time i try to connect to a network shared folder, it asks for my credentials. i put the ones for the computer im connecting with and hit ok. It then tells me at the bottom that access denied.
I have tried every possible credential combo i can and have even created another user account but it still doesn't work.
also,
it setup a domain for me, but i don't know if i should be inputting its password. but even then i don't know that domains password. (its called sadsad because i was trying to recover my account that was the user name i added)
thanks,
narwhal2

Did you set this computer up like this, or is it one you got from someone? The only way that it would be set to log into a Domain, is if they had been or are being used to connect on one.

Home does. You just need to change it to a Workgroup. But you still never stated if these were used machines or ones that you had set up.

alright im gonna explain my setup since i havent yet.
i have a linux amahi file server. i can access from another windows 10 machine, but not from my windows 8.1 machine. both of these machines(win10 and win8.1) are mine that i setup. When i enter credentials on windows 10 machine, i entered the ones that i use to login to the that machine. when i do the same on the windows 8.1 machine, it gives me that access is denied after i enter my credentials.

The only way to login like that is if you are using the same user with local accounts and the user directory is actually mapped to the NAS.
Check the Windows Credentials for each user that is set up on each machine.
Without physically sitting down at each machine, I have no way of knowing the set upof your network and why you are getting the login prompt.

alright. i fixed this with a command in cmd.
the command is
net use \\NETWORK DRIVE LOCATION /user:home\USERNAME PASSWORD
the username and password to use is the client machine that you are typing the command one.
