I have old .asf video files & would like to convert them to .avi files to play in MS Media Player.

The camera is a Sharp VN-EZ1 MPE-4 Digital Recorder. The video files are in .afs format.

No luck trying to finding a CODEX!

Can someone point me to a simple converter?

The Camera is almost as old as me!

Don't forget: in case of AVI output, you'll need to change the needed profile and quality on the right side of program window.

I've also missed one of these steps once when I was in a hurry.
I've added the screenshot just in case.

Good luck.

If you need to convert your Video, look for software that can utilize multi-cores processing such as Xilisoft Ultimate Video Converter. If you can avoid it and use it in original format then it is better since most software cannot produce a high quality video and if they do, the file size will be huge....

I have been using free KMP player and also recommended to all my friends: KMPMedia
This player uses its own codec built in so you do not need to install any codec and it will play asf and all other formats. including Music CD abd Video DVD. The sound is also much better than the built-in Windows Media Player.

Installing Codec is not really a good idea and it has a history of creating conflict problem.

If you decide to try it, make sure to uncheck the additional bloat wares that they offer.
