Are 2 accounts required for Interactive Logon to work?

Using the Interactive Logon, when I enter username and password, the system tells me I've entered the wrong username and/or the wrong password.

I've read all I could, on the issue, and I wonder whether the problem is caused by the fact I only have one account, on that computer. In other words, do I need to have two accounts, on that computer, for Interactive Logon to work?
