How to Hide or Show Apps in Windows 8 "Search" Charm
Information
By default, Windows 8 will list apps that work with search to allow you to search within the app in the "Search" charm.
This will show you how to turn on (display) or off (hide) apps to be listed and used to search within the "Search" charm so you can have what apps you want displayed in the list or not.

Note
This feature does not apply to Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1.
EXAMPLE: Apps to Search Within in "Search" Charm
OPTION ONE
To Hide Apps Directly in "Search" Charm
1. Do either step 2, 3 or 4 below for how you would like to open Search.
2. If you are on the Start screen and have a keyboard connected, then you could just start typing anything.
NOTE: You could press the :winkey: key to go to the Start screen.
A) Go to step 5.
OR
3. Press the :winkey: + Q keys and release.
A) Go to step 5
OR
4. Open the Charms bar, and click on the Search charm.
5. In the right search charm pane, right click on a listed app that you want to hide, and click on Hide. (see screenshot below)
6. The app will now be hidden and no longer display in the "Search" charm until you turn it back on using OPTION TWO below.
7. When finished, you could press the :winkey: key to return to the Start screen.
OPTION TWO
To Turn "Search" Charm Apps On or Off in "PC settings"
NOTE: This option will go through "PC settings" to turn on (show) or turn off (hide) the apps in the "Search" charm.
1. Open PC settings, and click on Search in the left pane. (see screenshot below step 4)
2. To Turn On (show) a App in "Search" Charm
A) In the right pane under Use these apps to search, move the slider for a app to the right to turn on that app.
3. To Turn Off (hide) a App in "Search" Charm
A) In the right pane under Use these apps to search, move the slider for a app to the left to turn off that app.
4. When finished, you could press the :winkey: key to return to the Start screen.
