I had a similar issue except my entire windows 8 desktop, control panel, and website urls changed to symbols. I used the attachment you posted and it fixed my problem but only temporarily. I restarted my computer after downloading the attachment and my text switched back to symbols again. Any suggestions?

Download the attachment i posted, extract it, right click on the file, then click install.
Click yes if asked to replace font.

Fixed the text on Windows 8

Thank you so much! This solved the issue on my PC when I tried to make a new User Account. Just by installing the font, the text reverted back. Just make sure you hit the right button when you install the font haha.

It still didn't help me.. Text is still partially shown in symbols.
Dialog boxes in software also lack buttonsScreenshot (16).jpg

Exactly the same problem for me - replacing the font temporarily worked but upon restating my pc it reverts back to those crazy symbols and is unreabable. Does anyonwe know of a permanent cure to fix this please? Thanks, rob (I am useless on the pc so if you are kind enough to reply please make it idiot proof - thanks)
