Anyone else find the start screen a little ... static?

So the idea of the start screen in Windows 8 is that that is the interface we are 'supposed' to use most often -
Well I left if up the other day and I got thinking.
It stuck me as boring after a while - static.

Perhaps the choice of having some sort of slow paced background animation would solve this?

What do you think?

It would be nice to be able to change the background at all! :D

But I thing eventually the idea is that your main or left most group of program tiles would themselves be dynamic. But it may be a while before much of that takes off.

But I agree, being able to change the background, including to an AVI/MOV/WMV file would be nice....

it is static but with the typography and all the flatness of the icons I think having a moving background would prove to be difficult unless they make their content more dynamic and easier to read/look at to begin with.

Hello Lukeshoe1993.

One nice feature available is animated wallpapers on the desktop. (including mpg, wmv, etc...)
Although Microsoft does not provide Dreamscene ... similar programs are available that are compatible with 8.
Online keyword search for animated wallpapers does the trick.

Animated wallpapers on the metro start page !! I can only imagine!

Yeah I have used Dreamscene in the past and loved it - that's the kind of thing I would love to have behind all the metro tiles - but built in/themed ones as opposed to having to make your own etc.
