Hi... One of my good friend asked me a fix for user profile error in Windows 8. He is getting following error after installing new updates:

The User Profile Service failed the Login. User Profile cannot be loaded

I tried googling but unfortunately got no fix. Then I came to know about Brink tutorial on Windows 7 forums for this error :

User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. - Windows 7 Forums

But it seems that the tutorials registry way no match in registries of Windows 8!

Just want to know do we have similar fix for Windows 8 as well? Thanks :)

Hello Kapilarya,

It's the same for me in Windows 8 as in Windows 7 for the registry locations in the tutorial. What was not matching for you?

Hi.. thanks for reply...

Actually I thought there are two long strings with S-1-5.... according to your tutorial but I'm getting only single string..

Is it correct or I need to create one more key there?

That's correct. You will only have a long key number for each user account (local or Microsoft) that you have created. Do you have any other user account created that's not listed as a long key under ProfileList here?

You'll only see another same long key # for the same account with .bak at the end if Windows created a backup of it. You will not have it if you didn't get this specific user profile error though.

Thanks for reply bro..

No, I don't have any other user account. So I have only one key there..

If I change/modify the key name with .bak format, will Windows make the automatic back up of user account?

Windows will automatically create a .bak if you get this user profile error.

If you add .bak to your current one, then you could mess up your user profile. Don't do that. ;)
