BlueStacks thought the idea of being able to run Android apps on a desktop computer would be popular with some consumers.
It just didn’t know how many.

Windows 8 tablet owners can still have the best of both worlds.
The Windows 8 version of BlueStacks is optimized for RT.
Not true.

Bluestacks does not work on Windows RT. It is a desktop app and cant be installed.

Now... THAT's a STORE! Immediately found 10 of the same apps I use on my phone!

It says "for Surface Pro" but it installed on my system no problem. Basically it's a whole other Mobile System that installs into Windows. I wish it cold replace Metro.

A mobile operating system to replace a mobile operating system that some naysayers tout as such?

I don't have Bluestacks.

Have I missed something?

I was under the impression it is a program to run android apps on a pc. Rather like wine on linux

Is Bluestacks a mobile os ?

Basically that's the idea, run android apps on your PC. It's more like an emulator.

Does someone have a screenshot that they can post of Bluestacks running? I'm kind of curious as to how it looks.

But I wouldn't really run android apps on my PC. As far as I know, there isn't anything really worth the while and time to do such.

Here ya go: It DOES lag like a %^%$#

But once the app starts, its OK. This is the start screen, after the apps have been installed, the first time it runs, it comes up in Full Screen. Your charms and corners are blocked out, and it drops you off in the Store. I am running it windowed.

I tried to install it on my tablet, but it came up with a graphics processor error (it doesn't recognise my graphics card!). It also doesn't play well with a 1024x600 resolution screen, so it looks like it's made for high resolution screens only, even though I downloaded the XP/Vista/7 version.

Well, if the Windows Tablet which is 7 now, was made for 8, then you should just get the version for 8, as it will see all of the hardware on the tablet maybe. You can try it, and if it doesn't work, you can always put the 7 version back in.

But the "Surface" version works well, albeit slow, on any regular Windows 8 Desktop - It may be faster in a tablet.

No, the tablet was made for Windows 7 (Gigabyte S1080). I did a registry hack to increase the screen resolution so that I could run Windows 8 and the apps, but in the end, I preferred Windows 7. I use the tablet exclusively in desktop mode (it's a mirror image of my desktop PC in most respects) and as there are no apps that interest me, I just didn't see a reason to use Windows 8.

I was, however, interested in trying out the Android side, but for some reason Bluestacks doesn't recognise the Intel graphics. That's kind of weird, as I installed Linux Mint on the tablet and I have no problems running it as well.
