Solved After upgrade, cannot access BIOS or boot menu

My Acer Extensa 5620Z originally came with Vista, then I clean installed Win 7, now upgraded to Win 8. Since the latest upgrade, I am unable to access BIOS or the boot menu. The black and white boot screen used to say to press F12 for boot menu, and something else for Setup, those messages are no longer there. And those key combinations do not work. I've also tried some other combinations I've found in searches - F2, Alt-F10, ctrl F10, alt ctrl F10, F8, del, esc. None work.

Could the upgrade has modified the firmware somehow? Boot screen says Phoenix bios, TrustedCore v1.32 - I think that is the same it has been.

This is not exactly a solution but I do know if you hold your power button on your computer until It turns off and then turn it back on you will be able to get into your BIOS though I don't recommend this solution

You might have to go into the Windows Power Options and turn off Fast Boot.

It won't hurt anything to try it, if it doesn't help just turn it back on again.

I know this doesn't solve your problem of accessing Bios at boot... Here's a nice command line that you can rum from cmd, and boot into the boot options menu automatically.

Shutdown.exe /r /o
