Adjusting Bass in Windows 8

I have a Tosheba Satellite laptop running on windows 8 software and the audio is hollow/tinny.

I've clicked the audio output device icon, but can't find any equalizer button.

I've searched the apps and there's a 'DTS Sound' option; I've increased the bass, and used the bass boost option, but the sound is still awful.

Is this merely the laptop quality?

I once had an Acer Aspire which was supposed to have a subwoofer - but the driver never worked in Windows 7, so it was as tinny as all the rest. Glad you had a good experience, but it appears as far as the Tosh goes, the sound is not impressing you.

Please stop telling people it's their hardware, it's not. I got Audio Technica ATH-AD700's. Bass while low for some was fine with windows 8. The upgrade to 8.1 has all but eliminated any concept of low end frequencies from my system.

The Original Poster did not mention Windows 8.1 - the complaint was about Windows 8.

If your Bass response has diminished since the upgrade, the driver and control software for your sound chipset may need to be updated to optimize the sound balance in your system. In fairness the audio chip manufacturer/Motherboard manufacturer have had very little time to play with Windows 8.1 in its final release - but some end-users expect miracles. Complain if you like, but it will take time for all niggles to be fixed , if ever. New hardware may be required to get the best out of the newest OS, and maintain the revenue stream of the manufacturer.

If important to the end user, then stick with the version of Windows that works until the supporting drivers and software is fixed.

This is what I did. If you want bass, do the following:

-Get Headphones (Before headphones my Bass Boost did absolutely nothing)
-Go back to your bass boost option
-Then click settings, and try out the different settings. Mine is at 50Hz and 24dB. Hz is the frequency while dB is the sound level.

I am having the same problem. I have windows 8 too but there is no bass and its AWFUL!!! I have fiddled with all of the volume control options and there is no bass options anywhere. It is definitely not my speakers that I have plugged into the audio jack either. Please help ...this is my nightmare

Well i found out that this has to do With the driver supplied With my computer ( lenovo g510). There were absolutely no bass under 80 hz--- But lenovo has a driver update so after downloading it here Drivers and software - Lenovo G510 Notebook i just installed it and.... Perfect. And also supplied is dolby 10 band eq and a lot of adjustment settings that you can tweak the sound just as you want.

Fix My Bass on Toshiba Laptop...so EASY!

I just bought a Toshiba Laptop and there was no bass coming through on my external speakers. I'm on Windows 8 and found the solution on another forum. Pull up DTS Sound by using your search option for you PC. Click on Bass Boost and then click Advanced. There you can adjust the bass, voice and treble. Sooooo simple!! Sounds great now. You can also adjust the sound by going to Setting, Control Panel, Hardware / Sound and Realtek HD Audio Manager (which is what came with my PC). There you can play around with the Sound Affects that you are looking for. These two things should solve your issue if you haven't solved it already. Again, these two things are relatively easy to find and adjust once you know what you are looking for. Good Luck!
