945GM intel 1920X1980

Hi,
I've got a very old computer - dell inspiron 6400 with a 945GM intel graphic card. I know, I know, very old... But Isucceeded in finding all the drivers for this laptop and win 8.1.
For the graphic card I used the one shipped with microsoft (2012) and it works.
But... if I connect my external monitor, impossible to get my 1920x1080 res. I tried EVERYTHING I knew : modd inf file with edid, create a monitor inf, try the win 7 driver, try a generic vga? really spent DAYS to find a solution to no avail...
Do someone have an idea?
Is it possible to find a generic driver VGA (i connect my monitor with vga) with 1920x1080 and native laptop 1280x800? I don't play games.

I forgot to say that the ms driver works well with the laptop 1280x800, but to the external, I'm stuck to 1024x768. Awful. Maybe a vbios limitation, but i know with windows 7 it was possible to use external with 1920x1080.

On Intel's website, there is only information for the 945GM version (not the 945), which lists a max resolution of 1600x1200.
