I had windows 10 installed on my laptop a while ago and activated bitlocker on 2 of my pc's hard drives. I later decided to downgrade back to downgrade widows 8. I Then went ahead and unlocked my drives but surprisingly i was only successful in unlocking one drive. What is more frustrating is that both drives could be unlocked by the same password. I had saved most of my important files in the drive that is still locked. What should i do:(?

Do you need to get more files off the drive? I can only guess that the drive has been corupted or was the old system using tpm if so that would stop it working in another pc.

[h=3]What system changes would cause the integrity check on my operating system drive to fail?[/h] The following types of system changes can cause an integrity check failure and prevent the TPM from releasing the BitLocker key to decrypt the protected operating system drive:

  • Moving the BitLocker-protected drive into a new computer.
  • Installing a new motherboard with a new TPM.
  • Turning off, disabling, or clearing the TPM.
  • Changing any boot configuration settings.
  • Changing the BIOS, UEFI firmware, master boot record, boot sector, boot manager, option ROM, or other early boot components or boot configuration data.
