Is Windows Defender scanning outgoing Idrive backup data?

I'm using Idrive for real time backup of my hard drive data. When I look at Task Manager - Processes, while Idrive is running in real time, it's using 100% of hard drive, slowing down my PC, and also the Antimalware service executable appears to be running and part of this too. Is something scanning my outgoing data that's being backed up? wouldn't that seriously slow down my PC?

In most cases anti virus will scan both read and write depending on the file type is there some point to keep backing up all the time?

I thought real time backup would be best. Like if I changed my checking account, it would be backed up right away. But now I'm wondering if there's a way to set Idrive to backup while I'm asleep, and to wake the PC from sleep when it does it, then set the PC back to sleep when it finishes.

The simple way unless you have masses of data is to save to ms OneDrive or Google drive you simply save your files to their folder on your be and they will be backed up to the cloud so if you had a major disaster your files are safe between them you get 30 gig of space it only backs up changed files so no big writting

I guess we cannot do that for now. Better to watch the process, it takes a while, but better to watch the process, you might find some problems. I do not use this service because the limited size file is only 10 GB via application and only 2 GB for web based uploaded.

I set iDrive to backup at 2 AM and not real time anymore.

I found out that two things are going on. First, people say not to run Defender AND MWB both. Is that true or not, and if true, will MWB do everything Defender does, so I don't have to worry? Because people have also told me that Defender and MWB cover different viruses and malware threats. That was why I was trying to run both. But if I run both, will that slow my PC to a crawl?

The other issue is that, even with MWB turned off ( I set it to only scan weekly ), Defender's Real time protection is using up to 100% of my hard drive services. The HD usage keeps spiking up to 100% frequently. The only way to stop it is to turn real time protection OFF, which is not good.

So this is a mess and I don't know what to do.
