had a minor problem with file history before but knew how to fix it. but when I tried this time nothing happened. then I got a pop up that filled the screen with the message above. and my pc is acting funny, even my screen is acting up. now here is the screen shot. does this mean I will need to reset the pc from how it come in the box? I've got the cd that came with it, should work if no other way to fix this. it looks bad, but I hope it's not.

ok, so how does this Macrium Reflect Free work? and will it not lose the data and applications as mentioned in the screen shot I posted?

and since it is free will there be adware in there to worry about. but it's the lose of the data and applications I am worried about most.

thanks for the information you have given me. it's a place to start.

See the Macrium web page Macrium Reflect Free and User Guide Macrium Reflect KnowledgeBase - KnowledgeBase - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase

There are many posts on this Forum about Macrium.

You can use it for disc imaging/cloning & backup and should not lose any data. You can mount a Reflect image as a drive and recover any individual file and schedule full / incremental / differential backups. I've not seen any adware to worry about.

I suggest you give it a try. No doubt others will recommend alternatives.

I've also had continuing problems with File History - see http://www.eightforums.com/performance-maintenance/63195-file-history-problems.html

UPDATE

just got the user guide and other things printed this morning (ran out of ink yesterday.) all the trying to figure out the instructions for preparing a USB stick for windows PE. it wants the disk number on the USB stick, but what number? is that the 128GB number? when it gets to select disk (N) (the N refers to the number just typed in) is the instructions telling me to typing the words "detail disk", or something else. bear with me here folks. I've never done this before and I need to make sure I do this right, that way I don't lose any data. and I do appreciate any help anyone comes up with. thank you for your time.

while i'm still working on the above issue, I've noticed the silly thing is on a continuous loop saving the same videos, music,
family photos, and everything i have on my hard drive, that are available offline. things i don't want saved as i have done that
already. so how do i reset this thing to save only what is available online only? hope everybody has a great day.

ok, finally got it going the way it should be. I did find where I could list all the items I did not want it to record, and that has stopped the
problem. the other one, i'm still trying to get that one up and running. it's the USB memory sticks I have, called "cruzer glide" now I was told by the company they come with a master boot record. but are not set up for prepared for, or being used as, a bootable USB stick for windows PE. in fact the company that sells the cruzer glide sticks told me that not one of their products are made for the bootable
windows PE.

but for now I consider this problem solved. and thanks for the help and information from steve c.

I've only used basic USB drives from Tanscend & SanDisk and they boot fine.
