Solved Internet Explorer homepage hijack problem

I've been cleaning up a badly infected Windows 8 computer. So far I've done scans with MBAM Pro and Hitman Pro. Both found a mix of pups and more serious malware (including one rootkit), and were able to remove all detected items. I've run Ccleaner and also manually emptied the temp folders. The system is free of popups now, but one issue remains; when I open Internet Explorer it loads a rogue search page. I've twice done a full reset of IE settings including deleting user data. The proxy is not set, security zones are at defaults, Bing is the only listed search engine, and the homepage is set to Google.com. Any advice as to how to root out this last problem will be appreciated :geek:
