88 important updates cannot install windows 8 how serious

ther are still 88 important updates that needs to be installed on the 2 windows 8 pc 's i have in the internet shop.

how serious is this to the security of the 2 pc's ??

will this greatly affect the virus and malware vulnerability ??

Important enough I would say, if you are concerned about too many updates or have other concerns, you can pick and choose only security updates. Other way would be to have only important chosen to download and install. There are also some updates without which you will not be able to upgrade to W8.1. As computers are used in the internet shop, it's even more important to take advantage of any security improvement you can get your hands on.
I suppose you have set tight security on them and network, route etc. You can also ad: MCShield ::Anti-Malware Tool:: to guard against malware thru USB sticks if you allow customers to use them. Which other security measures have you taken ? AVs, soft/hard firewalls etc. ?

If they can't install they must be giving you an error. What is it?

Apologies if this is not related but I had 62 updates to install yesterday (following a new installation of W8.1). Only about 10 downloaded and there were 50 left today. Having had 'fail' problems with so many updates in the past I chose around 20 that were the earliest issued. Once these had installed, the others were installed automatically.

It took a while as the updates included the 750mb one from a few months ago, plus a couple of months when there were several security updates, but it did go through okay once I reduced the initial number of updates in this way.

When I changed my computer back from W10 this last time, instead of forcing updates, I just let it get what it wanted to over a period of a day or two. The results were that all of them actually worked just fine which was certainly not the result when I manually did update checks and tried installing.

well actually its only part of my sister's photography studio business.

we have avast trail version on
i had spybot on one of them but it interfered with the smb settings on the fire wall and i removed it as we were billed for getting someone resetting the firewall settings for the kyocera printer connected via the network.

    that 's it

    thanks

If it's part of a business it's even more important to have it as safe as possible. Do try McShield, it works only on USB stick or disk insertion, doesn't interfere with anything else and has small footprint, saved my bacon few times.
