is there any way of completely making a computer 100 percent clean of virusses etc before backing it or making restore points ??

is there any way to make backups of windows 8 after the pc was cleaned and burn it to a dvd ?? i dont want to make backups to usb or portable hard drives because it can easily be damaged and is expensive.

1. No. Only if you make your backup before connecting to the internet for the first time. All you can do is scan with you AV and hope. No AV will find everything.

2. Windows will not make images to DVD any more but you could use Macrium Reflect Disk Imaging and Backup - Help or similar to do this. However a USB stick (or drive depending how much you need to backup) will probably be cheaper and more reliable.

Scheduled scans by anti-viri, anti spy/mal-ware programs will help a lot. At home, I have several scheduled scans to cover different "blocks" of the day when the desktop is running.

A system image is an exact copy of a drive. By default, a system image only includes the drives required for Windows 8 to run, and also Windows 8 and your system settings, programs, and files. You could also select to include any other drive in the system image as well. When you restore your computer from a system image, it's a complete restoration; you can't choose individual items to restore, and all of your current programs, system settings, and files are replaced with the contents of the system image.

This tutorial will show you how to create a system image backup in Windows 8 and 8.1 to be able to use to restore the contents of your computer back to the state it was in when the system image was created if your HDD or computer ever stops working.
