Solved Malware starting IE11

For the past two weeks I keep getting a message automatically when I start IE11. It tells me to call 855-978-2910 because my browser is outdated.

If I try to X it out it won't work but if I reload IE11 it does not appear again

I have the free AVAST security 2015.

How can I correct this

Download the free version, not the trial version of Malwarebytes Free and run the scan:
Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.4 - FileHippo.com
Reboot and see if it comes back.

What did Malwarebytes find (PUPs (potential unwanted programs) or other malware/spyware) ? Have you encountered other problems with Avast ?

I was surprised that this pgm slipped by Avast. Maybe it got in via Facebook, which I use.

That was the only problem I had with Avast

Avast Anti-Virus, like AVG or Avira Anti-Virus is not set up to be an excellent Anti-Spyware or Anti-Malware; unless you buy the full Internet Security Suites. One has to have a multi-layered defense on one's computer in order to minimize [scan & remove] if not entirely prevent all kinds of viri, spyware, malware, unWantedWare, PUPs, Kittens, etc.
