    Comodo won't let me install a program

    So here's the thing. I got this anti-virus a couple of days ago. Loved how it worked. It's not heavy on my Windows.

    Today, I wanted to install a video recording program, but Comodo detected it as Malware and closed the installer. I was like, **** that, I'm searching for another video recorder.

    I came across another one and downloaded it, but the weird thing was that Comodo detected the SAME Malware name. So I'm sure it's a false positive.

    What are the steps to take in order for me to prevent Comodo from killing installers and detecting as Malware? I tried disabling everything in it, but for some reason, it still worked. o.o

    I would ask Comodo to provide an answer.

    Not familiar with Comodo, but does it have an "exception feature" that permits you to override/make an exception ? Also, check the Comodo site for a Support Forum to provide assistance.

    Have you checked the reviews of the recording programs to verify their credibility ? Some freeware may indeed be malware/adware.

    I have had success using programs from NCH. Most offer a free 30 day trial and can be uninstalled/reinstalled.

    If your sure that it is a false positive you could add it to Comodo's Firewall exceptions.

    I would uninstall Comodo and install Avast Free then try the site to see if Avast picks it up, that way you will know for sure.

    It might be, that the installer is bundled with some adware, like a toolbar, so it might be actually clean.
    What is the malware's name? You can upload it here to see, if it a false positive: www.virustotal.com

    If you are looking for a light, good and non-intrusive AV, you might try: Bitdefender Antivirus Free

    I have been using Comodo for some time. Click on the pop up tray icons, then right click on the Comodo icon and disable HIPS. If you click on Antivirus>Settings you will be able to set exclusions.
    I normally just get a popup when installing programs that asks me to allow it. Is a quite robust AV and takes some playing with settings to get it working the way you want.

    No it does not have a feature that makes an exception. That's why I'm asking. I checked the entire anti-virus, I disabled everything in it, but for some reason, it still blocked it. I did check their forum, and I haven't got a reply yet. That's why I always ask you guys here. Awesome and helpful community.

    I did check the reviews and it seems to be legit.

    I will check out the program you suggested once this free trial I recently got expires.

    @Nuccii

    I didn't get a Firewall with my install of Comodo.

    I uninstalled Comodo and I'm currently Windows Defender. I had Avast once I got my laptop, and unfortunately, it was a free trial. I don't like paying for my AVs since I can use Ubuntu and never have to worry about a virus.

    @TairikuOkami

    I forgot what the malware's name was, but I looked it up that day and I was assured it was a false positive.

    Is Bitdefender totally free? I'll install it right now if it is.

    @popeye

    I tried disabling HIPS that day, didn't work. The popups I got never gave me a chance to set exclusions. I dunno, I had a bad experience with Comodo. It was probably 'cause it really got on my nerves that day.

    Well, the exclusion option is there to add programs. I can understand getting frustrated with it, took me awhile to figure everything out. It has a lot of user definable settings.

    Comodo isn't a good antivirus. Use AVG or Norton
