    Windows Defender enough with MalwareBytes?

I was wondering if Windows Defender enough with MalwareBytes or a third party AV would be more appropriate? I have licenses for Bitdefender or Avast.

It is enough for me. There are many threads asking the same question though and some prefer alternative AV.

I use EMET as well - Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit - EMET - TechNet Security

That's all I've ever used with Win 8/8.1. Same way on Win 7, MSE and Malwarebytes.

But, I'm very limited on the sites I visit.

For the average home user, Windows Defender and Malwarebytes Premium is sufficient plus using your head to minimizing the chance of infection. This is all I have on my systems and serves me well with no bloat from 3rd party installs.

Basically, Windows Defender would be enough for us to deal with daily issue, you may take consider of the situations and choose whether to install some other antivirus, with more features and protecting methods.

I only use Windows Defender, and Malwarebytes (free), and have not had any problems. However I am not one to browse the "dark" side of the Internet And any software I do want to download I search extensively for any bad reports about it.

I guess you could use Windows Defender & MBs until something slips through & then try your Avast license.

I use the Avast Internet Security & am free of bad things.

    I don't visit questionable websites.

There is the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.".

Wait till something goes wrong then try something else, if you wish.

Making a Macrium image backup when things are running good helps a lot too.
