Is Avira good?

I keep having scan issues out of Panda. Is Avira any good? Can someone tell me about it?

If u plan on buying, i would suggest Norton, Kaspersky or Bitdefender.....
If u have a samll budget, go for Norton Antivirus, Or If u have a bigger budget go for the advanced versions of the above antivirus
( Norton 360, Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Pure, BItdefender Total security, etc )
Remember this is just my suggestion be sure to ask others if u have any doubts..........

I see no reason to waste money on paid AV for home usage, it is not like paid are better, quite the opposite.
Paid versions contain more junk, which only increase performance usage and offer virtually nothing in return.
Avira has a great detection and very little performance impact, I myself tend to recommend Qihoo 360 though.

Everyone will give you their comments and recommendations but the ultimate decision whether to use it or not is up to you and what is best for you. You best source of information is reading the comments of users and not those of the manufacturers. As an example:

I'm liking Comodo myself, an under the radar AV program. Tried many of the others and it is winning me over. It will pop up an allow menu quite frequently when installing software it doesn't recognize.

I will give Qihoo360 a try, I have never heard of it, it looks good, Thanks.

It has got some nice features but it slows down the system a bit, so back to Defender

I'm having to send it back to Acer for a repair, as it has a hardware related problem.

Any security suite / Internet Security / Total Security is going to slow down your system a bit really doesn't matter who makes it. Quihoo360 Antivirus in conjunction with Windows Firewall and Malwarebytes works very well and does not put a hurting on your system.
I like Quihoo360, the only problem is initially you will get hit with some false positives but after that it does what it is designed to do. If memory serves correctly, it also has the highest detection and removal rate of any Antivirus.

Okay. I will try it out.

AV programs are a matter of belief. The more you believe in them, the better they work for you.

But seriously - run all your internet work from a virtuual Linux partition. That is the best protection you can get.

Interesting, according to a performance test, it should affect it less then WD, probably depends on the system.

I see, they have used Internet Security, not Total Security, which has 3 engines and more "useless" features.

I am going to try Comodo whenever my 8.1 desktop is fixed. Should be fixed in 7 to 10 days.

Avira is not good..... my humble opinion. I test AV for a living...
