    defender - quarantined files

    win 8.1, defender is quarantining files but it doesn't tell me where they are, ms security essentials in 7 would show me where the actual files were. anyway to find out what files it sees as threats.

    THANKS FOR ANY HELP

    Is it Defender giving you this message when you try to open History?
    Do you have a 3rd party anti virus program also?

    Download and run TDSSKiller free
    TDSSKiller Download

    Also download and run Malwarebytes Free not the trial version

    THANK YOU FOR THE HELP:

    No [ 3rd party anti virus program ] , have run malwarebytes and TDSSKiller and all clean ,I was trying to copy files off a stick [ I knew they were safe ] and defender kept blocking them so I restored them from Quarintine and it allowed me to continue = so all is well :-}

    Thank You for your time and effort = it is much appreciated .

    Your welcome, it may have been a false positive but as long as you are sure they are safe. Keep an eye on them just in case.
