How to remove definitions from Windows Defender?

I have been using my laptop with Windows Defender for a while and have updated it's definition archive everytime it tells me too.

    Recently,
I thought that I should probably switch to a new anti-virus to help with performance.
So I installed Bitdefender's Antivirus Free Edition.

However, now there are definitions from previous updates of Windows Defender cluttering my Hard Drive.
Is there a simple and safe way to delete them?

    Thank you very much.

It is advisable not to do a full scan for the moment. There was a problem in the latest definition update and in some cases after doing a full scan, if it completes, Windows Defender has been turned off. Microsoft is aware of the problem and is working on it.
