Did I accidentally download a virus from a popup?

I was browsing a website, reading an article about something and was about to click on a link when a popup suddenly appeared on the screen. I ended up accidentally clicking the popup before closing it. Because of this click, a setup.exe file downloaded onto my computer. The file description says it's an installer pack and file type is application. I haven't run the setup.exe or anything. I was wondering if this is a virus that I accidental downloaded, and if so, what I should do now. Thanks :)

Delete it using the shift key to select delete, you will get a prompt asking if you want to permanently delete the file...

In spite of the fact you didn't run it, it wouldn't hurt to do a full scan with your AV just to be sure nothing slipped though.

Paranoia is just another level of protection:D
