Trouble With Encryption

Trouble BitLocker Encryption

Hello, I am running windows 8.1 and I'm trying to setup encryption on my main os drive, and 1 data drive. I have been unsuccessful and googling has not helped. If you have an idea, or encountered this issue before I would greatly appreciate the help.

My system:

My drives. I would like to encrypt drive C: and drive D: I have tried running the bitlocker once on the main OS drive, and this is why it partitioned it all funny like, not exactly how I'd want it.

When I run bitlocker on the OS drive, I get this error and can't move forward.

When I try to encrypt the data drive, I get this:

I have no smart card, nor am I interested in getting one, but the smart card option is grayed out and can't be disabled. I just want the data drive to be encrypted (since it contains a backup of the os anyhow), be unlocked automatically when the OS drive is unlocked either by USB or password at boot. Please help... anyone.

Looking at your Disk Administrator screenshot, it looks like you didn't follow what I said in your other thread about deleting all the partitions on your system drive so that you would install Windows to a bare drive, which allows it to create the System Reserved partition which is necessary for BitLocker to work.

I did crawfish, however I used acronis backup afterward to restore my C: drive and maybe that is the issue. I need that backup.

I don't think you're going to make much progress on the BitLocker front without the System Reserved partition. It might work to restore just the Windows partition instead of the whole drive after installing Windows on a drive with no partitions, the idea being to leave the newly created System Reserved partition alone. In fact I'm pretty sure I did this on my Windows 7 gaming system when I decided to move all my systems to BitLocker a few months ago. I was always big on NOT letting Windows create System Reserved, and I really didn't want to have to reinstall all my games, including several multi-GB ones downloaded from Steam. IIRC, I restored the single partition image I made with Image for Windows to the C: partition on a fresh Windows 7 x64 installation, and to make the recovery environment work, I had to do some BCD edits to point the new boot environment to the Recovery folder on the restored OS, as one of the GUID folder names was different in the new vs old installs.

I restarted everything, wiped everything, and I still cannot encrypt both drives. The data drive, after the os drive has been encrypted still has the "use my smart card to unlock this drive" option still grayed out. So back to square one. Os is encrypted, and data can not, even though the whole OS drive which apparently was at fault has been wiped, and a new windows 8 installed. Can I please have some actual genuine help on how to encrypt both my drives on this PC?

If you don't know the issue I'm having, please just move on. Just share your expertise if you actually know what is going on here, because I've wiped, restarted, reinstalled, wiped, used a backup, and now finally started again from scartch... and I'm still having the exact same problem.
