My buddy at work was trying to download VDownloader and he inadvertently clicked on this link and the download stub was loaded with a trojan that reset his DNS servers. Symantec is now detecting this trojan but some others may not detect this particular variant yet...

Softpedia and MajorGeeks are about the only two I trust anymore. Still have to watch closely for search bar and such crap in the installers but those sites even tell you when there may some of that.

I've never had a problem with Tucows. As for program downloads, I try to go to the author's site.
