Solved How to reinstall restore point creator?

Hi,
I have an Acer Aspire One725 running Windows 8.1.
I am unable to create any restore point, having tried every suggestion I found on the net.
How can I reinstall the restore point creator?
The file "sr.inf" mysteriously disappeared from my system.

Enable automatic restore point

Have you tried to run a SFC /Scannow? If that file is missing, it should see that & re-install it.

Note: Be sure to run this 3 times as SFC doesn't always catch everything on the 1st or 2nd pass.

This was the very first thing I did.

The SFC command did not help. I got some messages which I was unable to make use of, like:

Now I am going to get Windows 8 ISO image and see what I can do..

Just curious, have you scanned for malware? Malware can affect access to restore points in some instances.
