Hello,

After last weeks updates my UAC keeps resetting after a few hours, i set it to Never Notify and after a while it goes back to normal.

Notes:

I'm running W8 Enterprise.
It was running normally before the update.
No 3rd party programs were installed, the OS remained unchanged, just the updates.

Is the problem known? Is there a solution?
Sorry if it was already posted in another thread.

Select a system restore point to before the updates were installed then install them one by one until you find the culprit. If it is a non essential update you may opt to Hide it.

I see your running Enterprise, is it a company supplied PC? If no, why Enterprise? If yes, it may be a policy set by the company admin.

I'm running 8.1 Pro with update 1 and my UAC settings are where I left them. One up from off.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.
Yes, company PC but not a policy(verified that with the IT dep.), that's why i posted here, thought anyone else has this issue. And it's not just my PC, all windows 8 PCs are acting like this.

@alphanumeric: Yes it goes just just one up from off every ~4 hours or so even though i set it to Never Notify. Or if i restart the PC, same behavior, it resets on it's own.

I'm not running enterprise but as a test I just set my UAC to the bottom, never notify, setting and rebooted. It didn't change. I'll leave it like that for now and see what happens.

registry fix

Hi W8LOVE,
There is a registry change you can make, or in your case the I.T Dept,
BUT it does affect metro apps; see the MSDN blog.

HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies\system

key enableLUA

value data 0.
