Stay with Windows Defender. Norton Internet Security has been causing a lot of problems with some users. I was offered an different promotion from my ISP and reverted to WD due to problems.

From what I've read over the years, I wouldn't let Norton within 100 feet of my computer. It came bundled with my computer. 1st thing I did was rip it out.

Also, that "Constant Guard" is a constant pain. My neighbor was having issues with her computer and asked me to look at it. I found that "Constant Guard" was eating up 90+% of her processor 100% of the time. IOW, it's JUNK.

If you're happy with Windows Defender, stick with it.

Out of curiosity do you think comcast paid norton (to give the software away free to consumers) or the other way around? As the others said - don't do it.

In any case, for home use free AVs like Avast etc. are good enough. Those "Internet security" and like are most for business use to protect networks and such. For home use they are just an extra burden to the system.

I agree with Mike... Personally, I use Windows Defender and Malwarebytes' and have not been infected with a darn thing.

I currently use Kaspersky Internet Security. When I bought this computer I got KIS for $15. I just renewed KIS for $29. I've found it doesn't eat a lot of resources even during a full scan. My last box had XP Pro and on that one I used Comodo Internet Security (was offered free on their site) and had good luck with it.
