    Action Center pitching a fit

OK, this just started. Action Center is telling me that Windows Firewall isn't running. Well, according to Services, it starts automatically and IS running. Then it says that Windows Defender is off. Uh, DUH! I have Kaspersky Internet Security installed.

I click the button to turn on the firewall in Action Center and nothing happens. I did 2 scans with KIS. One for System Vulnerabilities and another for Critical Areas. Both come up clean. A further scan with Malwarebytes shows nothing. The only thing new is that I installed DVDVideoSoft for the YouTube to MP3 Converter. Seems this problem arose after installing. It did give me a couple PUPs but I had Malwarebytes take care of those.

whilst there are a couple of exceptions, it is the normal default for them to be turned off automatically, if you are running third party security programs

Yes, that's normally the case. However, I've had this computer for a year and it's the first time this has happened. Generally the only message I'd get is to scan my drive for errors.

The action centre issue has annoyed me, since its invention, I normally have it trurned off in the notification window, so that it can do its thing without interfering with me. I am thorough with my own maintenance, and do not need any reminders.

It took some doing but got the problem cured. Kaspersky somehow got corrupted. Don't ask me how, I don't know. A uninstall/reinstall fixed the problem.
