How to Remove AVG toolbar and search

I hardly ever turn off my computer, I just put it to sleep. But once a week I turn it off and I did last night. When I turned it on this a.m. My Internet Explorer had AVG secure toolbar and search. I do not want it, I did not ask for it and I cannot remove it.

There should be a law against people putting stuff on your computer that you can't remove. I called Microsoft and they told me I had to pay to get rid of it. WTF?????? I will not, nor can I pay. I'm on Social Security. This is BS.

Can someone tell me how to get rid of it. And where did my Microsoft Security Essentials go? Now it's missing from my computer. Oh.... I really need this today.

I seldom recommend programs but WinPatrol would come in handy in a situation like yours.
It would prevent things like the Avg toolbar from being installed in the first place.
There is a free version & a paid version.

    I get by on SSDI{which isn't much}.
The paid version is about $30{I think}.
I bought it because of the PLUS Info it provides.

It is free of any malware.

If you wish you could give the free version a try.
I have used WinPatrol for over 10 years & still like it.

I called AVG and they gave me the runaround and a phone number to call which wasn't in service. I called Microsoft and they wanted $169 to remove it. They asked me if I downloaded any software from the Internet lately and I said "NO" I didn't. BUT... yesterday I approved an IE update and that's where it must have come from.
Dirty dogs. Thanks David. I will try it when I have an extra $30. I'm on SS so money isn't always there for things even things we need badly.

Like I said, there is a free version.
    It works good.

But how long does the free version last and do they keep bugging you to buy the money one?

    It lasts forever.

They do not bug you about buying anything.
