OK I looked at my start up and found that AVG crap is still there. I clicked to delete it on restart and I restarted and it's still there. How do I get rid of it?

Also as soon as I opened the program it said there would be no popups and 2 seconds later I got a popup from them asking if I want to update without charge. That's how I got into trouble updating IE. So I clicked no. They said they wouldn't and they did.

The update was probably for the latest version.
    All updates are free.

Try right clicking & choose Disable.
    Then delete on restart.

If you have CCleaner you could try:

You could leave WinPatrol in place to see if it warns you about PUPs in the future.
It is easy to uninstall if you find it useless.

In the past I contacted Bill & he always responded.

Here is the WinPatrol support email address:

    support@WinPatrol.com

It makes me feel bad that WinPatrol hasn't given you the results it should have given.

I think I just didn't know how to use it. I did all the things you said and the AVG thingie no longer appears. I hope it's off for good. I wrote to FCC about this. They should not permit companies to put things on our computers without our permission. I mean permission that is visable and clear. The guy at AVG tried telling me it's a good thing to have to protect my computer. I said, "Then why did you fix it so it couldn't be removed?" "If it's so good, no one would want to remove it." Crooks.

AVG antivirus is an oxy moron. It gives you virus's. Thank you David. I may get the paid version next month when we don't have a heat bill.

I tried to click on the thumbs up for you but it said I have to spread it around. You must have helped me once before recently.

    Thanks

I'm glad you got it to work.

Any new program takes a while to get used to.

Have you checked your rep points ? You have a new green pip.
