I am struggling to set the Task Scheduler in Win 8.1 to set a daily Restore Point and also to schedule Windows Defender to automatically update itself then run a full scan at a specified time daily. When I try to program the Win Defender function, I find that when I select the Win Defender folder from the left pane library, the resulting right pane contains no "Windows Defender Scheduled Scan" folder, so resulting settings seem to have no effect. There are two other tasks listed in that right pane - one about cache maintenance and the other about verification (whatever that means),
Any suggestions appreciated re how to get Task Scheduler to work. I don't want to have to download another anti-virus program, but looks I'll have to if I can't get this thing to work.
Of course, the inability to get a daily Restore Point may be an even bigger problem with this Task Scheduler, but I'm starting with Defender.
