    best Antivirus for win 8.1

    hi all
recently, I Installed Avira Internet Security for Win 8.1 and I had problem with this Avira and netio.sys error ( BSOD error ) because of Avira

now, always I have removable Driver such as USB flash and etc, Can I trust to windows defender and firewall ? or I need another Internet Security?

well, which Internet Security and Antivirus is suitable for win 8.1? defenetly, I don't want to see BOSD error again

    with the best wishes

Windows Defender will protect you enough that you shouldn't need to install any other Anti-Virus software. If you run into a situation where you can't get a virus removed use Malwarebytes.

In addition to ectech's comments, I would also consider my surfing habits when making such a decision. For example, if you surf "with reckless abandon", you might need better protection. Moreover, many 3rd party AV solutions provide streaming updates (continually 24x7) so you are always assured of the best protection from that particular AV provider. And, most importantly of all...

Removing the malware is the easy part but repairing the damage left behind is the most difficult part and can result in a need to do a complete reinstall after a failure to put all the damaged pieces back together.

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kapersky or BitDefender for a paid solution. Now, if you want a free AV solution, I would recommend Panda Cloud or Avast Free 2014. I have used/tested them all (for a period of time) and I have been virus-free since I was born (eg, never infected). Now, I'm sure you will get more recommendations so hang in there and choose wisely.

    Good luck with your decision,

I have seen other helpers suggest and fix issues caused by both Kapersky and bitdefender,
I'd like to see a few of those links. Now, I have seen some issues when trying to install Kapersky "after" malware has been contracted but that could happen with any AV product. Moreover, I am the voice of experience talking. I have actually used those products (have you?) and independent test labs show the are the most effective 3rd party AV solutions on a consistent basis. Again, please provide those links to lend some credence to your warnings.

Sure, Bitdefender, Kaspersky and just about all antivirus solutions crash systems. That's no secret there.

AVG (<<<was extremely notorious for some time a few years ago), Panda, Norton, Bitdefender, McAfee are amongst the more seen. Avira and Avast too I suppose.

The only one that cannot and will not crash a system under ALL usage scenarios is MSE/Defender.

I use Kaspersky integrated into ZoneAlarm myself, and it is flawless. Others that misconfigure things or have random junk software installed along with it might not have such luck.

Stay away from Daemon Tools and use PowerISO instead, especially when using any 3rd party security.

Windows Defender is the BEST anti-virus you can get hands down.
