Independent test lab AV-Test has completed a series of tests for antivirus/anti-malware products on Windows 8 and 8.1.

They compared both business and consumer solutions. For each, they tested with the then-current version last November and December to increase confidence in the numbers. They compared the business solutions to Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection and the consumer solutions to Microsoft Windows Defender.

Windows Defender continues to be rated poorly. AV-Test is one of, if not the best, testing sites, No ?

I'm a firm believer that the real 1st layer of anti-virus is the person using the computer. Common practices: Don't download torrents unless they have many positive reviews, use FF with assorted add-ons like No-Script, Adblock Edge, Better Privacy, Disconnect, Ghostery, HTTPS-Everywhere, Refcontrol, and don't click on stupid links in e-mails for Viagara lol.

Of course, not everyone that uses a computer knows how to be a good anti-virus. heh
