Deleted Kaspersky & Say No to Norton

Is this turning into "I know more than you do ". Shall we leave it at that? Everybody has their own personal taste at whatever software they run on their own personal computers. This thread started out friendly and instructive, from a forum member telling us what he found and what he removed and is happy with. I know I made a few 'fubars' in my first reply but remembering something very awful that happened in my family got to me. Sorry for that.

No, its not turning out into that at all. The idea is to help! And a suggestion here and there is very welcome, I know I have used help on more than a thousand or so occasions. What one person knows is the answer to another persons question. Thats called passage of information.

Looks like I have got it wrong "Again " I have had a bad week. I am standing in the corner and writing out 100 times, I must not jump to conclusions, I must not jump to conclusions.............. As you say this is the place for help with Win 8 & 8.1. Windows 7 Forum for Win 7, the amount of help I have received from a lot of people has been gratefully received. Perhaps I better take some 'Chill-out' pills.

........... try and uninstall Iobit uninstaller and watch how much hidden crap it leaves behind on your system!

Revo uninstaller, the only way to go for uninstaller tools.

I used the Norton AV on personal computers in the past, but had a lot of difficulty both trying to use it and then even more removing it. I remember using the 'Norton Removal Tool' in 2007 but there were many artifacts of the Symantec/Norton stuff laying around. I have been using Avast with good luck, both on my Vista machine from 2007 to just recently, and now am using Avast with my new HP Envy desktop with Windows 8.1. Over the years, Avast has flagged many suspicious and potentially malicious pieces of software in emails or websites. I also scan from time to time with Malwarebytes. Guess I am going with what I am used to.

norton is as guilty of crap and spyware as the software its supposed to remove!!!

I will look at revo uninstall, I think I have used it in the past. My mind is not closed to options, I just mention stuff that I have or am using. We are all individuals, different thoughts, opinions, beliefs but nobody can say they are 100% right.

I was very apprehensive of third party uninstallers but after reading several reviews I am trying out VS Revo Uninstaller Pro. I like the layout start panel and the idea of seeing each individual program. I will get back to the forum, (lets hope I don't wipe anything out that's important), and let you know how I get on.

There you go, I always liked using third party programs instead of Windows supplied ones because Windows ones are just basic and do not do as much as most of freeware ones.
When using VS Revo Uninstaller you have 3 settings (Safe, Moderate and Advanced) for cleaning after programs so you can choose how aggressive it will be. After years of using it I have not had any problems because of it even as I always use Advanced mode. There is also a free version of Revo so you can try it first. The only difference is that Pro version has more cleaning utilities for which I do not have much use.

I did have Iobit Uninstaller, on my main pc. Used VS Revo and got rid of it all, I like it, and when I get used to Revo I will try the advanced method. I remember using another uninstaller a few years ago, and wiped out most of my games and saved levels, Twit (me) and since then became apprehensive. Still with this Forum, if I c*** anything up I can always ask for help, I hope. Now to do some reading on how to use VS Revo Uninstaller, properly.
