Whats a good firewall to go with windows defender on win 8

The firewall that's built-in to Win 8.1 is sufficient. Firewalls don't stop most of the things people think they will because they are not designed to.

A Cisco guy told me, all you need is to use is the firewall built into todays newer routers. The security is more than adequate IF you set your internal settings correctly and not use WEP for your wi-fi settings.

For the "average" user that doesn't use computers in grey areas or for one that doesn't care about privacy, yes, that's most true.

For advanced users or privacy-concerned users, that's far from true.

Also, there is malware to consider - being able to communicate outbound without your knowledge - with just router firewall and Windows Firewall.

I suspect Tony is like me - a grey area user and/or one that's privacy-concerned.

I've tried Comodo in the past, but for some reason it just doesn't work. Like if any application is attempting to access the internet, it should let me know every single time, and ask me if I want to block, allow, always block, or always allow. Something of that sort. Yet with Comodo it seems to...
