BitDefender won't allow to boot system fully

    Hello,
I have uninstalled my synaptics mouse pad driver and wanted to boot pc in safe mode but then Bit Defender rescue scan menu pops up and gives me option to Reboot and Shutdown. I tried both options but all of them give me same result and bring me back to the Rescue Scan. I then tried to scan because I may have some sort of virus thats causing it but it says "Failed to load Antivirus engines" and now i am stuck and can't boot my pc fully. Why has this happened? I also installed an intel driver for my processor before that. The program has created restore points before installation of the driver but i can't access them.

    I am running windows 8.1 64bit
    My Laptop is hp dv7-3xxx

    Thank you!

    Update:
I have taken out hdd and used an enclosure device and have deleted bitdefender but the rescue scan is still there. Where should I go to disable it?

This is a very old thread, and you've probably solved it by now.

But I found that with Bitdefender's Rescue Mode; when you use it for the first time, in order for it to boot, it becomes the first Boot Device in your Hard Disk Drive.

What you need to do, and most BIOS/UEFI allow this - You need to change the Hard Disk Drive priority, and replace the first line with Windows Boot Manager.

This is almost a sub section that tells the UEFI what to boot first on the hard disk, if there are multiple options like Windows and Rescue Mode.

I must admit, I was a bit baffled myself when this happened, but quickly realised it was an easy fix, and not to panic.
