Hello
Is it advisable to occasionally scan my smart phone with MBAM while running Win 8.1? Thank you
Peter

Happy 2014 to ya Peter2!

I don't have a smart phone, so I'm just asking for general information sake....

OK, can you connect your phone to your computer via a USB cable?
Does Windows see the phone as a "Drive" and assign it a drive letter?

MBam or any other Anti-Malware program can only scan the memory in the phone if it has a Drive Letter.

Does that help?

Cheers Mate!

Thank you very much TechnoMage for replying.
My smartphone does not have a data package. I pay $100. for 1000 for the year to text/phone and rollover when the year is up. Social security is tight.
However I can access the internet with WI-FI or my home private network -just not using the carrier and no minutes see to be deducted.

To answer the question, it does not act traditionally. I click 'This Computer' and see drive F which can be scanned by MBAM. However although it lists drivers, when I try to safety eject, it says to go to printers and devices instead of yes or no. I see it under devices and printers as an android device but when I click eject, nothing visibly happens.
Quite a ness hey? I tried the phone and it seems ok. I know of no other way to keep the phone clean.
If you could shed any light, I would be greatly appreciate it.
Thank you
Peter

It seems like the modern phones can do almost everything but kiss you goodnight and tuck you in.
But they are also a direct link to 'Big Brother'. Not my cup of tea!

My little flip phone stays OFF till I need to make a phone call, if I'm in the range of a cell tower that is.
I make my call and turn it OFF again. That's it! No music, camera, text or any of that stuff that would allow
the "machine" to track me.

So, someone with more Smart Phone experience, than me, is going to have to tell you, how to scan your phones inner memory.

I too, will be interested to read the answer on that one.

Happy 2014!

I understand. I used to use a Tracfone like that. This carrier gave a better deal.
I also hope someone can further advise me and I wish you a very bright new Year.
