Well , the problem came back . It looks like if I shutdown and restart within a few minutes the disable encryption function works . If I shutdown and leave for an hour and reboot then it fails and I need to enter that dreaded 49 bit code. It looks like I will have to decrypt. I wonder how long it takes .

It depends on the size of the hard drive and how full it is, but I would say that it could take a while (few hours).

I have decrypted my c drive it took no more than 1 hour because its only 64Gb eMMC drive

Now I need to proceed to re encrypt .

As a precaution , is it possible to restore to factory conditions in case somehow the process gets screwed up?

    Tks

If you created a factory recovery USB, then you could use it to recover.

Otherwise be sure to not interrupt the encryption to avoid any possible issues. Have the tablet plugged in to an AC outlet to be safe. It would be a bad time for the battery to die.

YES , It would be a seriously bad time for the battery to die during encryption process ! I had the charger on while I decrypted and will definitely have it on during the encryption process.

I do have a Macrium image of the DVP11 . I can probably use that one to restore?

In any case I had better prepare a factory recover USB as a second backup. I need to wait till I receive my 32G USB next week before I proceed. In the meantime I wont worry about unprotected OS because there is nothing of importance in this new Tablet.

Will advise outcome when its done.

    Thanks

Yes, Macrium would be good to create an image with.
