After doing a recent update to Win 8, my home page on Fire Fox has been hijacked, and I can't get rid of it. I've restored to system to the day prior to when the new page appeared, I've deleted cookies, I've reset the homepage within Fire Fox, I've run Avast and Malwarebyte; it's still there. Does anyone have any ideas about how to get rid of this annoyance. Thanks.

when you run these detection programs, see if you can find the 'path' to the little bar steward. I have some in appdata ........... iNetCookies but damned if I can find it even though I have hidden files revealed.

There is a RESET procedure, for Firefox that takes it back to like-new again. It's found in "Help > Troubleshooting Information > Reset (in box in upper right corner of the screen)
Failing that working for you, I highly recommend just Totally Removing FF (after backing up your Bookmarks) and reinstalling it. I use Revo Uninstaller to get all the pieces of FF out of the registry, etc. I've had to do that twice in the past three months.
I'm actually getting quite good at it. :roflmao:

As FF gains popularity, more and more spyware wants to attach themselves to it.

Good Luck!

Chrome has, if you are not careful, Snap Do - which hijacks the home page and search facilities. FF has so many, I removed it totally. I tried a ad free one, Avant, but its not at all user friendly and opens new links in little tabs at the top instead of new windows, which I prefer.

When I tried to download AWD Cleaner, it came with it's own package of Spyware, like Conduit! No Thanks!

I've used it MANY times on many machines and have NEVER had an issue. Sure you didn't have conduit before?

OH, I've had it and it was a Bi*** to get rid of, that's why I didn't want it again.

By saying NO! NO! NO! to all the extra stuff, I finally got Awd Cleaner, but it found nothing on my PC. I do try to maintain a CLEAN machine. I guess it depends on just where you download the program.
