Issues after update from Windows 8 to 8.1.

Hello. I updated my PC to Windows 8.1 about a week ago, and after the update, I am getting a watermark in the bottom right hand corner of my desktop that reads "SecureBoot isn't configured correctly: Build 9600". Is there any way to fix this? I had no issues before the update, and I am not confident messing around with the BIOS. I'll also add that after the update, I am unable to turn on the BitDefender active virus control. I have a Dell PC. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Matt, and welcome to Eight Forums.

For the Secure Boot watermark, double check using the tutorial below to make sure that you have secure boot enabled and configured properly in your UEFI firmware settings.

Be sure to read the blue Note box under the example in the tutorial for more information on this as well.

Secure Boot - Enable or Disable in UEFI

    Hope this helps,

You may have two options available:

The first method would be to enable Secure Boot in your BIOS.

The second method would be to download a MS patch to just remove the warning:

Update removes the "Windows 8.1 SecureBoot isn't configured correctly" watermark in Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2

Hope this fixes your issue. good luck.

The watermark is gone. All I had to do was enable it. Thanks for the help.
