Hi guys, I don't understand something. If my incoming connections is set to "block all connections to apps that are not on the list of allowed apps" why isn't there an entry for Mozilla Firefox on that list, it isn't blocked.

Also, I installed a VST plugin (software music synthesizer) and the first thing it did was check for updates (it phoned home), why wasn't that automatically blocked until I explicitly added a firewall exception ?

I don't get it.

Thanks.

Any unsolicited incoming attempt to access your firewall should be blocked; however, if you "request" an update, that specific incoming and outgoing path is now opened. It appears that you have authorized this app to check for updates so this would be considered as an outgoing request that is not subject to the unsolicited inbound firewall rule. Hope this helps.
