I've pressed it once before to restore my laptop to factory settings. It works great. It also restored Windows 8 to a fresh install without having to fudge around with installation DVDs.

I just had a few questions:

What exactly is this button and this process called?

Will this restore trusted/measured boot after one of Lenovo staff has helped me turn it off while I was on the phone with them ? (I forgot how they did it. I'm sure I can find out how on Google, but I'm nonetheless curious if it could be done with this button.)

Thanks.

NOTE: had to add the word "while" and a few other words, because they were missing. Sorry.

Are you referring to the Lenovo One-Key Recovery button (if you have one because you never identified your model).

I don't understand your question but it sounds like you should ask Lenovo staff "while" you are on the phone with them.

Good luck and I hope this information helps you.

They actually didn't know what trusted/measured boot was, so they couldn't help me.

trusted/measured boot

Actually, I don't know what that is either but could you give us a reference to where you saw it? Are you talking about the Secure Boot option in your bIOS perhaps?

Yes I think that's it. Sorry for the confusion.

OK, so where are we now? So, you pressed the One Key Recovery before and it worked. Now, what are you trying to do? Are you looking for a reassurance that it will work again without the need to include Lenovo staff? If so, I can give no guarantees as such because I do not know what steps and cautions were provided by Lenovo during the first call. Now, I'm guessing you first call was under warranty and now maybe your warranty has expired and you are looking for some asurrance to that end. So, am I way off or am I in the ballpark?
