A 2nd layer of Defense and A/V

Hello friends! I just recently purchased this laptop which comes with 60 days of free Norton. I am not to thrilled with it. This A/V seems to hog the whole system. On my previous system I had Bitdefender free, which was pretty good. I thought I might try out something different though. Like maybe AVG or Avira. Just thought I might get some input from you fine folks. Also, if I go back to Bitdefender-what might be a good 2nd layer of defense? Maybe SPYBOT? SpywareBlaster? Not much of a "Safe Surfer" in case you are wondering. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. PEACE

Hey mate, I used to use AVG (paid), but I now use Microsoft Security Essentials, WITH Spybot, Superantispyware (only used sometimes), and Malwarebytes. I also am not much of a "safe surfer", BUT I don't go to porn sites which I'm sure would be trojan central, and those proggys do me fine now.

Thanks for the input, my friend. Would that be SpyBot 1.6.2 or 2.1?

I hate the 2.0 version, bloated....I'll stick with the 1.6.2 version

Agree with bassfisher, I used 2.1 for a little while, found it to be no where near as good as 1.6.2.

Thank you, folks! Still unsure about which way to go. I am down to AVG and Bitdefender(again). I have installed Spybot 1.6.2 with TeaTimer. To the guy that suggested AdAware. I appreciate your input, but I had tried that in the past and got nailed with the o-so unpopular BLEKKO Toolbar. People claim it's malware, but it's more like a cancer. It takes an act of God to remove it. I would rather take a toothpick to the cerebellum before I do that again. If it works for you that's awesome. Not for me though.
