I would strongly advise against doing that. This could create conflicts. If you really want to try bitdefender then have at it but if trend-micro has been protecting your PC adequately, I wouldn't make the change. Some time ago, I tried the bitdefender free version and I wasn't that impressed with it. Good luck.

Hi there.

I highly recommend the native Windows Defender along with Malwarebytes via some members that I consider very knowledgeable in this area.

I also agree to uninstall any other antivirus program before trying another one. It will most likely cause conflicts.

You may want to read through the threads that I posted below before making a decision. There are other threads you may acquire to read via the advanced search.

Bitdefender scans the system while installing. I believe it won't install if it finds another security program that is capable of running in realtime, even if it isn't actually running at the time.

I recommend you not to do that. Incompatible programs when installed on a single platform can cause conflicting issues. If you want to use Bitdefender; first uninstall trend micro and then install Bitdefnder or any other tool. If you want to use two antivirus software together then always check their compatibility before installing them. You may go for compatible and light weight antivirus tool like Immunet Plus along with your primary protection software.

Adaware senses another antivirus & shuts off any of its attributes that would cause a conflict with that antivirus.

I know because I run Avast & Adaware & there are no conflicts between the two.

Adaware automatically disabled these because they would cause conflicts. :)

You can get this advice, you can get that advice, the best advice no matter which one you use ( and you should never run 2 antivirus programs at the same time because they will conflict each other and something will wind up crashing) is to not go to suspicious web sites, do not go to funny or porn sites, do not download software from places you never heard of, do not open attachments you have no idea what they are. One says you need some common sense so when the lightbulb goes on in your head do not shut it off!
